125 km North of Cape Town, Piketberg stands alone at the foot of the Piquet Mountains. During winter this area is covered with fields of canola & wheat. Established in 1863, Porterville is a picturesque town situated on the slopes of the Olifant's River Mountains. It was named after William Porter, who was a popular Attorney General of the Cape.
